Professor Jackson recognized in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education

Diverse Issues in Higher Education (Diverse Issues) recognized Professor Jerlando F. L. Jackson as a featured distinguished professors in its cover story for the September 2018 issue. The feature, titled “Distinguished Educators are Making a Mark,” highlights professors and faculty members who are “on the move,” detailing their personal journeys to their current respective universities.

Professor Jackson’s feature covers his own academic career as an undergraduate at the University of Southern Mississippi through his many achievements as a Vilas Distinguished Professor of Higher Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including authoring over 125 publications, the co-founding of the International Colloquium on Black Males in Education and the founding of Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory.

In addition to speaking with Professor Jackson, the article cites Dr. Melvin C. Terrell, whose Festschrift was led by Professor Jackson.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have someone of Dr. Jackson’s caliber leading the commitment to advancing the equality of diversity in higher education,” said Terrell. “He has built a strong reputation as one of the most respected scholars int he nation.”
